How To Get Rid Of The Cough In Children

Most of the kids up to the age of 13 years will have frequent cough, running nose and fever. This is not a serious condition and you can handle this easily with homely treatments.

Coughs are of different types and the one that for more than one week have has to be examined by doctors. The normal coughs are due to the irritations like the inflammation or mucus in the respiratory tract or due to the dust allergies. This will usually cause sleepless nights for your kid.

Home Remedies for cough

Ginger Tea

If your child can take ginger tea then it will be the best remedy for cough. Give him ginger at least 4 times a day.

Massage

Take some coconut oil and warm it slightly. Massage this oil on your child’s chest for about 5 minutes before putting him to sleep. Also massage the upper part of the back and avoid the cold condition like air conditioner and fan. This will help your kid to get rid of the cough and he can sleep with out any disturbance. Instead of coconut oil you can also use mustard oil.

You can also massage your kid’s chest with a mixture of olive oil, sage oil, eucalyptus oil, peppermint and rosemary. Massage these oils on the chest just before sleeping and the eucalyptus oil will alleviate the cough while the rosemary essential oil will make your child calm. After massaging, cover your kid’s body with a blanket.

Water

Make your kid drink lot of water so that the child remains hydrated. Water will help him to clean the system and it will also fortify the immune system.

Milk and Turmeric

Take a cup of milk and to this add a little turmeric powder. You can also add one tablespoon honey to this mixture. Take this milk mixture twice a day and you will definitely get relief from the cough.

Onion

Take one white onion, boil it and take the juice by pressing the onion. To one teaspoon of onion juice add one teaspoon honey and drink this mixture twice a day.

Tulsi (Ocimum)

Take half teaspoon juice from the tulsi leaves and mix it with half teaspoon juice taken from fresh ginger. To this mixture add one teaspoon honey and mix them well. Take this syrup 3 times a day.
