Important Nutrients For The Skin

December 22, 2008

The minute we have a skin problem, the first thing we do is to run to a salon or the dermatologist for help. But in most cases, skin problems are the result of imbalances in our foods, and stem from deprivation of important nutrients for the skin.

Healthy food is as important for the beautiful skin and hair as it is for the proper functioning of the body. Balanced meals with plenty of fluid intakes are most important for the skin. While the body has a lot more protection since organs are all contained within the framework of the body, the skin is by far the most abused. Not only by the external environment, but also by us. It is important to replenish and feed the skin vital foods required for its upkeep.

It has been believed that chocolate is bad for the skin. While there may be truth in this statement, chocolate is by no means the only culprit. Foods which are high in carbohydrates are also known to cause pimples and acne and should be avoided, as should white foods. Instead, opt for plenty of fresh foods and fruits in the diet.

This helps in keeping the skin nourished and also helps flush out wastes from the body and skin well. Remains of waste in the body also contribute to skin problems, which is why acne and pimples are aggravated by problems like constipation.

Foods like whole grains, seafood, fish and lean meats are also good for the skin. Have plenty of natural foods which are minimally cooked. Also, have a diet rich in protein which helps build the skin tissues better, and also keeps the cells healthier. Wholegrain pastas and legumes are also greatly beneficial for the skin.

Healthy eating is the best way to keep the skin happy and glowing. What’s good inside is bound to show.
