Cholesterol is present in every person’s body and is essential for the normal functioning of the body. But when the level of cholesterol increases it may get deposited in blood vessels and may cause serious health problems.

There are two types of cholesterol present in the body and they are low density lipoproteins which is the bad cholesterol and the other one is high density lipoproteins the good cholesterol.

The bad cholesterol is responsible for many of the health problems like heart disease, kidney trouble etc. While the good cholesterol plays an important role in maintaining the normal functioning of the body.

Natural Remedies for High Cholesterol

Garlic

Garlic is found to reduce the level of bad cholesterol in the body and also found to increase the level of good cholesterol. Take one garlic capsule at least twice a day.

Grapes

Grapes are also having a compound that reduces the cholesterol. You can take either grape juice or the grape fruit. Take at least one and a half cup of grape fruit in a day and your cholesterol level will get lowered by 7 % in two months time.

Concoction

Take one teaspoon of lime flower, one teaspoon of chicory root, one and a half teaspoon each of ginger rhizome and fenugreek seed in 250 ml water. Then boil the water for sometime and allow the concoction to cool down. Strain the liquid and drink this every day and this will reduce your cholesterol level.

Beans

Different types of beans like soybeans, lima beans, navy beans, kidney beans, other legumes etc can help you to lower the cholesterol. This is because these legumes have good amount of pectin which is responsible for lowering the cholesterol along with high fiber content.

Onion and Butter Milk

Take one cup of butter milk and to this add one finely chopped onion. Also add ¼ teaspoon of powdered black pepper and drink the mixture. You can also take the onion juice for lowering the cholesterol and to purify the blood.

Turmeric

Turmeric is also found to reduce the cholesterol level and there by reduce the formation of blood clots. Regular exercise and a regulated diet will help you to lower the cholesterol level and to keep yourself healthy.
