Medicinal Properties of Eclipta Alba

Eclipta alba is a herb that grows in tropical regions. It prefers moist places and can grow up to an elevation of 800 meter. It reaches a height of 15 cm and has a pubescent well branched stems.
The leaves will be blackish green with a length of 3-5 cm and with serrated edges. The flowers are white and long stalked and fruits are with many black colored seeds. The entire plant along with its seeds is having wonderful medicinal properties.
Chemical Constituents in Eclipta alba
Eclipta alba have bio-active steroidal alkaloids and these chemicals has good cytotoxity against some cells. It also contains Ecliptasaponin C which is a triterpenoid glucoside anddaucosterol, stigmasterol-3-O-glucoside.
Eclipta alba on ethanol extraction gives a product that can protect us from rattle snake venom. It also consists of ecliptine, demethylwedelolactone, wedelolactone etc. All these constituents impart the medicinal property to the plant.
Medicinal Properties
The oil made out from Eclipta is excellent for converting your hair in to black by removing the gray color. It is also ideal for treating baldness. You can also consume about 3 grams of eclipta powder for some days will help you to rejuvenate and nourish the hair.
External application of Eclipta Paste
The paste of Eclipta if applied externally over the swellings especially glandular swellings, filariasis will help you to reduce the swelling and the related pain. If you apply this paste over the wounds then it will heal quickly. It will also help you to ward off the pigmentation on the skin.
Eyes and Ears
For reducing the inflammation of ear you can use the freshly prepared juice of Eclipta. You can also apply this in your eyes for getting relief from conjunctivitis. This will help to reduce the pain.
Intake of Eclipta
Eclipta is found to be a best drug for treating liver diseases like liver enlargement, cirrhosis and also against the attack of hepatitis. It is also beneficial for spleen and gall bladder. For internal hemorrhage in gastrointestinal and respiratory tract you can use the decoction made out from this dried plant. This decoction will also protect you from bloody urine and stool also from sprains, dermatitis etc.
