Nettle, also known as stinging nettle, is found in several countries of Asia, northern Europe and South America. Despite the stinging sensation that one experiences on touching the nettle plant, this herb is noted for its medicinal values.
The botanical name of nettle is Urtica Dioica. It could grow up to a height of 4m. The leaves and the roots of nettle can be used for making herbal tea. Nettle tea could be consumed for curing several diseases.
Allergy remedy
Researchers have found that nettle could be used for treating pollen allergies. Folk healers often recommend nettle for curing hay fever. In a recent study, researchers observed that nettle contain compounds that act like histamine. These histamines help to reduce the sensitivity of the body to pollens and several other allergens.
