Nail Care Tips

March 27, 2009

We are always careful about our skin care, hair care and body care. We often tend to ignore our nails, and do not take proper care of them. Nails beautify our fingers. A hand without good nails looks ugly.

Good nails are important for good looks. Here are few simple ways to take care of our nails.

It is observed that during summers, and rainy season, our nails tend to grow faster compared to other times. The nails on our fingers grow faster than our toe nails. Remember to cut them regularly and keep them clean.

It is easier to cut and clean our nails after a shower. Because the nails are moist, they get cut easily.

It is better to thin the nail polish, using a nail polish thinner. It will last longer on your nails, and will have a shiny effect to. Refrigerate the nail polish, after being thinned.

Regular use of nail polish remover is not good. It contains alcoholic substance, which is sure to have an adverse effect on the nails. It makes the nail dry. Dry nails have a tendency to break off easily.

Nail polish sealer is available. This may be used after applying the nail polish. It prevents breaking of nails. It can be applied daily on your nails, even if you are not using a nail polish. It keeps the nails moist and prevents them from any wear and tear.

Do not use nail polish regularly. Leave your fingers free from any kind of nail enamel for at least 10 days every month, else the nails tend to lose out their natural color and become yellowish.

Always use good quality nail polishes. Local brands can be hazardous.

Sometimes the dirt accumulated in the nails, may invite bacteria growth. Use water mixed with bleaching agent to remove the dirt.
