Natural Remedies To Get Rid of Ants

Ants live in colonies. They feed on left over food, dead insects, other pests, other decomposing tissues, tree stumps, firewood piles, fences, leaves, fruits etc. They are good scavengers but at home ants are found to be a nuisance.
There are different types of ants called carpenter ants, leaf cutter ants, argentine ants etc. Due to the hazardous effects of chemical pesticides and the difficulty in managing such chemicals made people to move towards natural remedies which are beneficial and at the same time harmless also.
Remedies for Ants
1. Cinnamon is a good remedy for avoiding ants. Take some cinnamon and grind it and sprinkle the powder on the ant infected area. The ants will leave the place in no time.
2. Cucumber pieces and even peals if placed in the areas having ants will help you to get rid of the ants as the ants do not like the taste of cucumber.
3. You can make circles or lines around the ant nest with table salt and the ants will not cross the salt line.
4. Mint has a special quality of destroying the smelling sense of ants and they can’t reach up to their food. Use mint tea bags, dried mint powder or mint oil for the ant affected areas and ants will vanish in seconds. You an also grow mint plants around your home and thus protect your home from ant infestation. Any mints like spear mint, pepper mint, cat mint etc can be used for this purpose.
5. Lemon juice has strong ant repelling power and you can make use of this quality for get rid of the ants from your home or from your garden.
6. Mix 1/8 teaspoon of boric acid with half teaspoon of honey and keep this in a small open container near the ants. The ants will carry this to their nest and the boric acid will kill them. You can also mix boric acid with grease or fish oil and this will give you the same effect.
7. Also try the powdered cloves, black pepper or red chili dusting on the ant affected areas. The ants will leave the place quickly as they don’t want these hot spices to get in to their feet or antennae. This is because this may impair their sense or smell and touch.
