November 26, 2008

The best way to care for the skin is rather simple. It does not involve long sessions at the salon, or the use of expensive products. Just a little vigilance and some common sense. Here are some simple pointers to give yourself a face lift.

BAN THE SUN

Exposure to the sun is an evil that everyone knows enough about. The sun can burn, bruise and damage the skin beyond repair. Premature ageing is the most common outcome of exposure to harsh sunlight.
No matter how or where, the use of sunscreen is a must. Depending on the exposure and intensity, chise an sun protection factor that is suitable.

CLEANLINESS

This is most important for the skin. To allow it to breathe, promote growth and circulation and also remove any foreign or dead particles from the surface. This is best carried out using a cleanser. Make sure you find the right cleanser for your skin that can allow all the above processes without irritating the skin. Natural cleansers like milk, coconut water and juices may also be used.

KICK THE BUTT

Smoking causes ageing, scaly skin, puffiness of the face, and also lines to form on the face early. It prevent oxygen to deplete, giving the skin almost no supply. There can be no way to repair or reverse this damage. Quitting is the best gift you can give your skin.

LIMIT ALCOHOL

Alcohol has the tendency to dehydrate the body and skin. Avoid drinking too much and too often. If you have consumed alcohol, make sure you drink plenty of water to rehydrate the skin.

DIET

A balanced diet with large portions of fruit and vegetables are a must. Also consume lean meats and fish for better skin. Moderate amounts of starch and carbohydrates are also very important for the skin. Regular exercise, walks, and also adequate sleep are very important to give the skin more rest and also refresh the skin. It is unwise to allow your weight to fluctuate too much as it has an impact on the skin. Keep weight in check.

VITAMINS

The most important vitamins for the skin are vitamin C and E. These have antioxidant properties and prevent damage of the skin. Vitamin A is another type that you might want to incorporate into your daily intake.
