Powers of Garlic

Garlic is an aromatic bulb used for seasoning foods. Garlic is found to be rich in vitamin A, D, B and C. It also contains sulphur, calcium, iodine, phosphorous, selenium, proteins crotonic aldehyde, volatile terpenes etc.
The essential oil of garlic contains amino acid alliin and the enzyme called allinase. On crushing the enzymes contained in garlic will combine with amino acid and produce allicin. Allicin which is a good antibiotic is found to impart the medicinal properties to the garlic.
Anti Cancerous
Garlic contains components called anti oxidants and they are anti cancerous substance. These anti oxidants will prevent the development of cancer by blocking the free radicals from attaching to the normal tissues. It will also slow down the growth of tumors. Garlic is highly beneficial for preventing blood cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, stomach cancer, esophageal cancer etc. The anti cancerous components in garlic include diallye disulphide, s-allycystein, ajoenes etc.
Garlic contains ajoene which is useful in reducing the viscosity of blood and thus protects us from forming blood clots. Garlic is also useful for reducing the spasms of small arteries and thus it makes the blood flow smooth and will control the blood pressure.
Heart Diseases
Garlic plays an important role in reducing the level of bad cholesterol in the body and it also increases the good cholesterol level. Thus the risk of developing blocks with in the arteries decreases. More over daily consumption of at least two cloves of garlic will make the aorta flexible and will also protect it from ageing and stiffening. This will promote a uniform blood flow towards the heart.
Garlic is found to have good anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. Hence it is a good remedy for intestinal parasites, candida infection and yeast infections. Garlic will also stimulate the immune system and T cells and help us to fight with the infections. Garlic can effectively control the common cold and flu if treated at early stage as it is a good source of vitamin C. it is also a good expectorant and decongestant.
The allicin present in garlic is found have an important role in controlling the weight gain.
