Protecting The Skin With Your Clothes

December 17, 2008

There are many factors that contribute to the health of the skin. Along with regular care and the products used, the diet is also important for the skin. So are the clothes we wear.

What we wear can have a great impact on the skin. It is important to choose clothes keeping in mind climatic conditions. Wearing thick, fitting clothes in the summer months is foolish. It not only makes you more uncomfortable and causes you to sweat more, but also prevents the skin from breathing. This could lead to rashes and irritation on the skin accompanied by burning sensation.

Similarly, synthetic clothes are not best suited for the summer. Opt for natural fibres, cotton being the best. Linens in lose fits aer ideal for these months. Also choose lighter shades of clothing which keep the skin cool and prevent the absorption of heat.

Those who have sensitive skin shoulld be most careful while selecting clothes and also fabric. Be careful even while selecting footwear since leather can also react with the skin when its sweats too much.

Underwear is also very important. The summer is definitely not the time to wear tight underwear no matter how stylish it may seem. Wash underwear often, and never re-use worn underwear as it could lead to the spread of ringworm and other skin conditions.

While washing clothes, take good care to see that they are completely free from any detergent. Detergent can also cause allergies in the skin when left in clothes, and contribute to skin problems. For those with sensitive skin or those suffering from any skin problems, take greater care while washing clothes. See that they are washed separately, and that they are give na boil before drying, preferably.

Clothes are not only about looking gd but also for helping care for the body. After all, protection for the body was the sole puropse clothes were created for.
