Puffy Eye Remedy

June 10, 2009

You would hate to wake up one morning to discover thick sacs suddenly sitting beneath our lower eyelids. Puffy eyes rob our eyes of its natural charm. Eye bags are not harmful for your eyes. However, removing them is not necessarily an easy task. You have to be patient enough to remove them.

Improper fluid circulation

There are several reasons of appearance of eye bags. It may be caused by improper circulation of the body fluid, which is retained underneath the eyes. It is found that people who sleep on their stomach are prone to puffy eyes. It is possible that the fluids in our body are obstructed from proper circulation owing to the wrong sleeping posture. The fluids move towards the head, causing eye bags.

A probable treatment of puffy eyes would be to sleep with your heads elevated at a level higher than normal. These would help in removing the fluid from underneath the eyes. To improve fluid circulation or lymph flow in your body, besides adjusting your sleeping posture, some moderate exercising can help to overcome this problem. Deep breathing exercises can help to improve fluid circulation in the body.

Salt and water in diet

Excess salt in your diet can also be responsible for appearance of eye bags. To cure puffy eyes, restrict salt intake. Drinking adequate amount of water will promote water circulation in the body. It prevents retention of water under the eyes. To prevent and cure puffy eyes drink at least 3 liters of water every day.

Under eye gel

To cure puffy eyes dip cotton in cold cucumber juice and place it on your eyes for fifteen minutes, at least twice every day. You can also put a thin slice of potato or cucumber on your eyes. Several eye gels are available, which can be applied underneath the eyes to cure puffy eyes.

Sleep

Puffy eyes can also result from lack of proper sleep. Lack of sleep causes retention of water beneath the eyes, causing puffy eyes. To ward off eye bags always have a good sleep in the night.

Alcohol

Excess consumption of alcohol can be responsible for water retention.
