November 21, 2008

Pepper is a common herb found everywhere quite easily. It finds universal appeal in its taste and flavour, and is used in a variety of dishes all over the world. The properties of pepper make it a herb that doubles up as a good medicine as well.

Pepper is commonly called piper lungum. It is known to subside the element of air in the body. It increases appetite, and subsides the formation of mucus formation in the body. It is available in fresh form, and the pickle available can help subside gastric trouble.

Take the powder of pepper and make it a very thin, minute powder. When about two to four grains of this minutely ground powder are taken and mixed with a little honey, it can help reduce cough, cold, weak appetite, asthma and improper digestion. Like dry ginger and black pepper, pepper is also given to mothers who have just delivered. Pepper can help cure hyper-acidity which occurs due to weak gastric appetite.

Pepper can work wonders for those suffering from chronic fever. When taken for a long time regularly, pepper can help increase strength, vim, vigour and vitality, and rejuvinate the body. This can only be effective if excess salt, chillies, alcohol, tea, coffee and tobacco are avoided.

The roots of the pepper shrub are digestive, appetisers, hot and cure insomnia. It is especially good for clearing the uterus after child birth and gives strength to the back. Fresh soup made from pepper powder taken along with molasses gives sound sleep. It also helps subside the element of air as well as gastric trouble.

Make pepper an integral part of your daily routine. Not only wil it help you spice up your food, but your life as well, all with good health. That’s the secret to a good life.
