Quick Tips to Beat the Heat
Summer is in, so it’s time to focus on how to stay in shape, feel good and look good this season.With the mercury soaring high, things have become all the more difficult. To feel healthy and fresh, all day long here are a few ways:
Increased water consumption:
Water alone can help you to survive this summer. Drink lots of water. Dehydration is a key factor in heat exhaustion. The hotter you feel the faster your body absorbs liquid, and thereby increasing the demand of water in your body. Carry a bottle of water wherever and whenever you move out. Avoid beverages containing alcohol, caffeine or high amounts of sugar. Do not go for fizzy drinks. Stick to fruit juices and tender coconut water.
Work in intervals:
Working for an entire schedule, will be taxing for your health. You‘ll be on a higher risk of heat exhaustion. Take a break every hour to relax yourself. Take a few long breathes, before starting again. Wash your face at regular intervals. Protect yourself from excessively hot environment.
Sleep:
8 hours of sleep is essential. If you have loads of work for the next day, ensure that you get a good sleep. It will make you feel rejuvenated and energized for the day. And will make you likely to suffer less from exhaustion.
Night shift:
Taking night shift would be beneficial. Though not applicable to all, but if you get a chance, try to avoid the day between 11a.m. to 4 p.m.it is the hottest times of the day. At night, temperatures are considerably lower.
Take a break:
Make sure you take a break every 45 minutes, and remember to take in some light healthy snack too.
Sunscreen:
Try to avoid staying outdoors in the sun as far as possible. When in sun, wear a sunscreen (at least SPF 15), and a hat to protect you from the heat.
Bathing:
Take bath twice a day. But never take a shower immediately after coming from outdoors.
