Remedies for Athlete’s Foot
Athlete’s foot is an infection that affects the region between the toes and is a contagious disease. It is caused by the fungus called dermatophytes and it lives in the dead cells of the skin. It is also seen in warm and moist places like locker room, showers, swimming pools, gym etc.
You may get the infection by sharing the shoes and other accessories with others. They will cause a burning sensation in the toes with redness, cracks, itching, scaling, blistering, inflammation etc. It also causes a bad smell between the toes.
Home Remedies for Athlete’s Foot
Diet
Take a well balanced diet with good amount of fruits and vegetables. Try to avoid the alcohol and alcoholic products, cola drinks, sugar, grains, greasy and fried foods and the processed foods also. Avoid baked products as they consist of yeast.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil has antifungal property and you can make use of this property for curing your disease. Take a little tea tree oil in your fingers and apply it in between the toes. If you feel stings then dilute it with any other vegetable oil and then apply.
Corn Starch
Corn starch has an ability to absorb moisture and so brush a little of corn starch on your toes. Or you can dust corn starch in your shoes before wearing the shoes.
Vinegar
Take some vinegar in a cotton ball and apply it in between the toes. This will help you to get rid of the symptoms in weeks. Yu have to continue this even after the symptoms subside as the fungus may re appear quickly. Otherwise you can soak your toes in warm water containing half cup vinegar and two tablespoon salt.
Baking Soda
Get a tablespoon of baking soda and mix it with a little water to form a paste. Apply this paste on infected regions. Once it gets dried rinse it with water and allows the feet to dry by air.
Epsom Salt
Take some water that is enough to soak your toes and to this add one cup vinegar, three tablespoon boric acid and 1/.4 cup of Epsom salt. Dissolve them well in the water and soak your feet in the solution for about 15 minutes. This will help you to cure the infection.
