Remedies for Fibrocystic Breast

October 21, 2009

Fibrocystic breast develops due to hormonal changes with in the women’s body. This is a non cancerous condition. The estrogen and progesterone hormones causes the development in the connective tissues, glandular tissues etc in the breast during menstrual cycle.

At the time of menstrual periods these developed cells undergoes enzymatic actions and breaks down. These broken fragments may leads to blocks in the ducts of the breast. This blocks cause fluid accumulation in the duct and cause pain, lumpiness, tenderness and swelling in the breast.

The symptoms may be different in different women depending up on their hormonal changes. The following tips may help you to get rid of this discomfort.

Poor liver functioning and sluggish bowel movements leads to the accumulation of estrogen with in the body. This is because liver won’t be able to detoxify the excess estrogen. The slow bowel movement reabsorbs the excess estrogen on its way out from the body and cause problems.

Home Remedies for Fibrocystic Breast

Herbal Tea

Add two teaspoon of dandelion root, two teaspoon burdock root and one teaspoon yellow dock root to four cups of water taken in a pot and heat it in low heat for about 15 minutes. Take the pot out of the heat and add three teaspoon vitex berries, two teaspoon of prickly ash berries, and two teaspoon of dandelion leaf and cover the pot.

Steep the entire contents for about 20 more minutes and then strain the liquid. Take three to four cups of this liquid daily. This tea will enhance your liver function and improve the lymphatic circulation. It will also relive the water retention in the tissues.

Breast Compress

Take two teaspoon of chamomile flowers, two teaspoon of calendula flowers and two teaspoon of yarrow flowers in a pot and to this add one and a half cup boiling water. Steep the contents for about 10 minutes and then strain the liquid. Now add 10 drops of lavender essential oil to the liquid and mix. Dip a washcloth in this herbal solution and remove the excess water. Keep this cloth on your breast.

Place a hot water bottle above this to retain the hotness. Then replace it with a washcloth dipped in cold water. Again keep the herbal hot washcloth on the breast and repeat this cycle at least three times and end the process with the cold washcloth.
