Remedies for Jock Itch
Jock itch is a fungal infection caused by a group of fungi called dermatophytes. Jock itch is usually seen in groin and it spreads to inner thighs, genitals and pelvic region. It is more common in men. When the creases in the body get sweat and dirt, these fungi multiplies faster and cause infection. The infected region becomes red with raised rashes.
The person may also experience itching and burning sensation in the groin. When the infection spreads, it leaves a clear looking skin in the middle with raised red edges and thus gives a ring like appearance. The skin on the infected region may flakes and peels.
People sharing the bath towel of an infected person, sharing the clothes, having immunodeficiency diseases are more prone to get this disease. A person who sweats a lot may also have chances to develop jock itch. If the disease is not checked properly then it may cause more troubles.
Some treatment for jock itch that can be done at home are given below:
Salted bath
Fill your bath tub with warm salt water and immerse yourself in that water. The salt in the water will take liquid from the infected area and dries the infection. Continue this twice a day for three days and you can see immense reduction in the infection.
Garlic
Garlic is found to have good anti fungal properties. Hence include enough garlic in your foods. You can also make a mixture of garlic with olive oil and apply it in the infected region. Or you can apply garlic paste and honey alternatively on the infected skin.
Apple Cider Vinegar or Tea Tree Oil
Wash the affected area and pat dry with a clean towel. Then apply tea tree oil or apple cider vinegar on the area. Continue this even after your symptoms subside and this will help you to kill the fungi completely.
Reduce Your Weight
Try to reduce your weight as it helps you to avoid the skin folds and thus reduces your chance for getting this disease.
Diet
Avoid foods that contain yeasts like sugar, alcohol, refined carbohydrates etc. also avoid oily, processed and fried foods. Try to include more fruits and vegetables in your diet.
