Remedies for Mumps

Mumps is a viral infection that affects the salivary glands and as a result the glands swell causing pain and discomfort. Mostly it affects children between the age of three to fifteen.
This disease spread through air when the infected person sneezes or coughs, so it is better to keep away from the infected person. Once infected with this disease, the patient gets life long immunity to this disease and he or she is not likely to get this disease again.
The most common symptom of mumps is the swelling of the salivary gland. The patient may also experience fever, headache, loss of appetite, earache, fatigue, vomiting, nausea etc. If the disease affects a person in his puberty then males may have swelling in their testicles and females have swelling in their ovaries.
Herbal Remedies for Mumps
Mullein Tea
Mullein tea is a popular remedy against mumps. Dip a cotton pad in the mullein tea and bandage this hot pad on the affected areas. This will help you to get rid of the swelling and will also give you some sort of relief from the pain.
Fenugreek and Asparagus
Take a tablespoon each of fenugreek and asparagus seeds and make paste by grinding it with water. Spread this paste over the affected area to remove the pain and the swelling. This will also get rid of the viruses.
Neem Leaves and Turmeric
Get some fresh leaves of neem and grind it to make a paste. Now mix this paste with some turmeric powder and apply this mixture on the swelling. This will give you quick relief from the pain and the swelling and the antiviral property of neem will help you to ward off the viruses.
Make a smooth paste with the leaves of aloe vera and apply it on the infected area. This will reduce the inflammation and the related pain and swelling.
Chebulic Myroblan
Make a paste out of this herb by rubbing it with water and spread this paste over the infected area. This will definitely give you relief from mumps.
Ginger
Fresh ginger paste can also give you relief from the swelling and the pain of mumps.
