Remedies for Oral Candidiasis
Oral candidiasis is caused by a fungus called candida albicans. These fungi usually found in the mouth of most people but when they get favorable conditions like lack of immunity, antibiotic or steroid like medication they may grow out of control and cause infection.
These fungi may cause white or cottony white or whitish yellow patches on the mouth, gums and tongue. In severe cause the lesions may spread to throat and even to stomach and cause several health problems. If you scratch theses patches then there may be bleeding or red coloration under these patches. Sometimes there may be swelling under the dentures and there may be difficulty in swallowing or drinking food and water.
Home Remedies of Oral Candidiasis
Tea Tree Oil
Add at least eight drops of tea tree oil in to a glass of warm water and mix them well. Use this liquid to gargle your mouth and while gargling make sure that the liquid touches each and every corner of the mouth like cheeks, throat, palate etc. Gargle two times daily first in the morning and second time just before going to bed.
Apple cider vinegar
Take two teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup and add one cup cool water to this. Stir the mixture well and use it for gargling daily for two times. There after take some undiluted apple cider vinegar in a cotton swab and apply it directly on the lesions and never rinse it off. Allow it to be there for the entire night.
Plain Yogurt
Take some plain yogurt that does not contain any added sugar and use this to swirl in the mouth. Remember to avoid drinking or eating anything up to one hour after this is completed. This will replace the candida fungus with acidophilus bacteria. Acidophilus is a healthy bacteria found in the gut and mouth. This will help you to control the growth of candida and thus reduces your symptoms.
Garlic and Onion
Garlic or onion is found to have good anti-fungal property and thus include garlic and onion in your diet. This will reduce the infection to a great extend.
