Remedies Using Common Vegetables
The typical way we go shopping for vegetables is to pick up the most visible ones first. We often use the same vegetables over and over since we are not always aware of the properties and uses of the rarer ones.
Vegetables are great for the body and skin. The skin and hair can benefit greatly by both consumption and applications with vegetables. Here are some uses of the lesser common vegetables.
Amaranth is useful in hair disorders. Application of the fresh juice helps promote hair growth and also keeps it soft. It prevents premature greying and retains original colour of the hair. When mixed with lime juice and milk, the juice of the amaranth acts as an effective tonic. It should be applied to the face and massaged gently for half an hour before washing the face with lukewarm water.
The peels and seeds of ash gourd, boiled with coconut water help cure disorders of the hair. It helps hair growth, prevents dandruff and dryness of the hair.
A decoction of beets, mixed with a little vinegar cleanses out dandruff most effectively. The water of beet, massaged into the scalp with the tip of the ginger root every night helps getting rid of dandruff quickly.
Corriander mixed with a pinch of turmeric podwer is an effective remedy for pimples, blackheads and dry skin. This should be applied to the face after it has been washed every night before retiring to bed.
Fenugreek is another good vegetable. It helps fight greying hair while improving its texture and promoting growth. Fenugreek leaves and seeds can be used to bring benefit to the hair.
Use simple vegetable remedies to clear out all skin and hair troubles. This is the time to go shopping and search for those lesser known veggies.
