Saving Yourself From The Winter

December 29, 2008

Dry, cold weather can pose a great problem to the skin. It starts to itch a lot mroe, becoming dry and flaky. It loses its original elasticity and texture while starting to look dull and older than it really is. The feet also tend to become dry and start to crack faster. The lips start to get stretchy and chap easily. The winter might not be the best season for the skin after all.

It is important to use products that can help lock moisture into the skin. Soaps that have glycerine, vitamin E oil, milk or even honey are better options for this weather. Vaseline is another ingredient that is helpful and should be used as a supplement if it is not present in your soap already.

Winters do not ncessarily mean escape from sunscreen. The sun will continue to chine in the day and harm the skin, so choose the right SPF for your skin and get sunblock accordingly.

Plenty of water and other fluids are important to hydrate the skin, so have as much as you can to keep your skin looking happier and younger.

The hair can have rather unfortunate experiences during the winter. It is common for hair to get frizzy and unmanageable in the cold. Dandruff is also a common problem since the scalp gets dry and starts to itch and flake. Hair can also start to become more brittle at this time. Use a mild shampoo and wash the hair in lukewarm water to help comfort it well.

Foods during the winter can help aid the skin and hair and curb excess problems. Protein is a very important source, as are vitamins B12 and B1, in keeping both the skin and hair better cared for. Have enough fruits that are found specially in this season, and they should also help see you through.
