Simple Cooling Cures
The rose is perhaps the most popular flower world over. It is a familiar name amongst all – from children to the grown ups and elderly. What is unknown to many is that it is not just meant to adorn the garden. Roses have properties that find other uses in the household and also medicinally.
Rose and its essences are used to improve the flavour of many desserts. They can make ice creams, sorberts, and even summer chillers. They cool the body and refresh instantly.
The leaves of the rose are most commonly used. Among roses from over the world, the Persian variety are best known. Rose water is prepared from it.
A confection made from rose is most potent. Take fresh leaves of good quality and equal amounts of molasses. Make layer after layer of leaves and molasses intermittently, fill into a glass vessel and close it well. Show the glass vessel sunlight for a month. About half an ounce of the confection obtained should be had every morning and night with either a glass of milk or plain. It brings clear motion, removes impurities in the blood, cools the body, calms and soothes. It is normally gives after an attack of measles, small pox or chicken pox to subside the heat in the body. It stops bleeding and is a very good tranquilizer.
Rose also benefits the skin greatly. It improves the complexion, and also cools. It is an ideal application after sun exposure. It is a good additive to face packs instead of water. It can help cure heat boils and prickly heat with its cooling effect.
Rose helps subside all three body humours – air, water and fire. It is useful for those suffering from scabies, itching, high blood pressure and also constipation in the case of piles and heat in the head.
A few drops of rose water in the eyes can help cure redness and fatigue. It can help clear the eyes out, and s good to remove foreign particles without tampering with the eyes. It can also help in curing conjunctivitis.
