Nutmeg is hot in action, pungent, an phrodisiac , digestive aromatic. It is useful in diarrhoea, dysentry and abdominal colic. It is good for the throat. It has a bitter and astringent taste and its post digestive action is pungent. It has an oil which is applied to pain in the joints and also dental acvities. The dry fruit is rubbed and is used to cure headaches. Nutmeg helps bring about formed stool. It has a slight constipative tendency.
Mace is the cover of nutmeg. It is slightly sweet in action. It helps cure anorexia, nausea, cold and worms. It freshens the mouth because of its fragrance. It is used to cure diarrhoea, dysentry and indigestion.
