Simple Remedies For Vertigo

Vertigo itself is not a disease. The  symptoms of an underlying health disorder. If the natural balance or equilibrium of your body is disrupted for some reason, you will experience vertigo. Characterized by spinning or dizziness, vertigo can sometimes develop into a debilitating condition.

Vertigo remedies

Curing the underlying disorder responsible for vertigo is the best permanent remedy for vertigo. Through simple home remedies, you could reduce dizziness and recurrent vertigo attacks.

Positioning your head

Sudden head movements increase the risk of vertigo attacks. If you are prone to vertigo, avoid sudden and unexpected movement. You should not jerk your head. Bending your head backward could also causes vertigo. Although, lying down on your bed would help to reduce the dizziness, lying flat on the back could worsen the spinning sensation.

Always elevate your head, while lying down, by placing several pillows below your head. To reduce the dizziness, you can also rest on a recliner. People suffering from vertigo should not move fast. Brisk walking would not only worsen your vertigo, but it can also increase the risk of tumbling over and injuring yourself.

Focusing

When you suffer from dizziness, try to focus your eyes on a fixed point. Focusing on any stationary object directly in front of your eyes could help to improve your balance.

Drink water

Drinking one to two glasses of chilled water sometimes helps to reduce the dizziness.

Salt

Sometimes, salt imbalance in the body could cause dizziness. Eating something salty could help to reduce the dizziness.

Breathing exercises

If you are prone to vertigo, breathing exercises and meditation could help to focus your mind, which is beneficial for treating vertigo.

Diet

Eating vitamin and protein rich foods could help to reduce the frequency of vertigo attacks. By avoiding caffeine and excess fatty foods, you can reduce vertigo attacks. To reduce nausea that often accompanies dizziness include lime, lemon peel and ginger in your diet.

Herbs

Certain herbs are known to cure vertigo. Gingko biloba is extensively used in the traditional Chinese medicine for treating vertigo. Soak a tablespoon of coriander seeds overnight in a glass of water. Strain the water and drink it next morning to reduce your vertigo attacks.
