Simple Ways to Healthy Skin and Hair

December 22, 2008

Most people like to stress on what should be done for the body and skin. Few tell you what you should be avoiding to bring about problems in the first place. Often, things go wrong with the hair and skin because of the use of faulty products that do not agree with the body. Here are some handy pointers on things to avoid to keep the skin and hair looking and feeling beautiful.

It is a very common belief that henna makes a very good conditioner for the hair. It is also used by some people as an alternative to hair dyes and colours since it is completely natural and free from chemicals. However, henna has the tendency to dry the hair excessively, and causes it to become brittle. Use of henna as a conditioner actually has the opposite effect on the hair as you are trying to achieve.

If you are using henna on the hair, make sure you use it in combination with some other heavy product like curd, egg or banana to keep it hydrated well. It is also wise to avoid using henna as a colourant for the hair since it makes the hair and person look much older than they really are.

Use the right form of lip colour. There are a whole range of products for the lips available today like the lip gel, liquid lipsticks, gloss and matte lipsticks. Beware, liquid finishes and glosses do not suit all lips and often make them look like a mess. If you have very thin lips, make sure you use darker shades on the lips.

Never comb wet hair if it is curly. It will only cause the curls to open out more and the hair starts to look frizzier than it really is. Is also makes the hair more difficult to manage and control.

Avoid oiling the hair before you go out. Leaving the house with oily hair tends to cause hair to collect dirt and dust fater, and also absorbs more heat through the day. Instead, use products like serum to keep the hair neatly in place.
