Skin of a newly born baby is sensitive enough to get effected by external irritants. It is too delicate to defy under unpleasant situations, thus, a special care is required to protect common skin problems which an infant can face. Below, a few of them are being mentioned to put light on baby’s trouble.
Sunburn – Baby’s skin is very soft and over sensitive. Direct contact with bright sun rays leave their impact on baby’s skin and skin gets burnt rapidly. In case, if skin sunburn occurs it is advised to consult a child specialist because the chances of dehydration in baby also increase.
Diaper Rash – Use of diapers continuously for long periods causes skin inflammation along with itching. This skin inflammation becomes more uncomfortable when substances found in baby’s feces contribute. Use of disposable nappies is preferable to avoid diaper rash. Frequent change of nappies and diapers, keeping baby’s buttocks clean by wiping them after every change and applying talc on them prevents skin rashes. Secondly, after removing baby’s diaper leave baby in fresh air for some time. This gives beneficial results to cure diaper rash.
Miliaria – Miliaria is a specific feature of skin disorder appears in infants. Responsible factor for Miliaria is sweat glands which are not developed properly. As the result function of controlling temperature is disturbed in the skin. Miliaria rubra and Miliaria crystalline are the two types of Miliaria. In Miliaria a red circle is visible which gets irritated by baby’s sweat. It appears on neck, upper chest, upper limbs and abdomen. Miliaria crystalline appears as small blisters on the baby’s forehead. The most effective way to get rid of these two features of Miliaria is to minimize the temperature and humidity of baby’s room.
Prickly Heat – Synthetic cloths are always not designed to absorb baby’s sweat properly. Baby’s Skin in contact with sweat for elongated duration is ideal for bacterial growth which further results in itching and rashes. Clothes with cotton lining are best option to avoid prickly heat symptoms.
Inflammation of Sebaceous Glands – Head and face of an infant are those areas where inflammation of sebaceous glands can persist. This type of skin disorder is due to lack of skin hygiene.
Eczema – It is due to clothing material for which skin is allergenic. To prevent from eczema, it is necessary to opt for a natural dress material.
