Skincare In Winter

The advent of colder months brings sighs of relief to many. The harshness of the summer, the agony of the heat and the humid, sweaty conditions are all things we long to run away from. But the cold brings in its own share of worries. Proper preparation for the colder months can help you get through them effortlessly and painlessly.

The skin tends to react to the cold rather quickly. It immediately starts drying much faster, looks more lifeless and can also start to flake. If proper care is taken even before the cold actually begins, you can strike these problems out before they even start to surface.

The use of moisturiser is critical for the skin during this time. As the skin starts to dry much faster, use creams more generously on the skin. If you stay in an area where winters are especially harsh, use heavier, more potent moisturisers that stay on the skin longer.

The use of oil is another effective way of combating the cold. This is an ideal form of care for those with normal skin. Using oil on the face not only helps keep it moist, but also gives the skin more warmth.
While using either moisturiser or oil, make sure you massage the face well since it helps stimulate blood circulation and helps keep the skin younger and healthier. The more you massage your skin, the more hydrated the skin continues to be.

We often tend to forget our lips while we moisturise the rest of our face. The best product to use to hydrate the lips is lip balm. Special balms that have cocoa butter extracts and oils are ideal for the cold months. You can save the lighter varieties for regular use otherwise. Make sure you prevent your lips from chapping and becoming excessively dry at all times. Drink plenty of water. This will benefit not only the dryness of lips, but in the hydration of the skin as well.

Keep your skin feeling good at all times and you will see a world of change in the way you look and feel. It’s the simplest, and yet most effective way you can tell yourself you care.
