Solutions For Dull Hair - The Problem Lurking Beneath

January 10, 2009

There is really no one who is free from all hair problems. The idea of perfect hair seems too far fetched to be true, a concept confined to advertising alone.

There are many cures, both medical and natural, that have been prescribed to prevent and cure hair problems. While these may help arrest problems over a period of time, the main culprit is still lurking beneath.

Many hair problems can be attributed to physiological reasons apart from external conditions and neglect. Some introspection will also be able to reveal to you that your problems may actually be brought on by choice. Many hair problems today are found to be due to imbalances in the diet, and by lifestyle choices we make.

Dull and lifeless hair is a very common hair problem faced by both men and women today. While there may be solutions in oil massages and deep conditioning, look a little further.

We often go on diets in trying to lose weight. This endeavour makes us stay away from oils, butter and all fats. This can cause the hair to get excessively dry and start to look limp. Fats are very important in helping the secretion of natural oils in the scalp, which help give it shine. Absence of these soluble vitamins cause the hair to start looking mangled.

Add some amount of fat to your daily diet. Clarified butter is the best form, since it nourishes the hair very well. Also add generous helpings of vitamins A, D and K to your diet. Opt for some supplements in the short term to help bring immediate changes, and gradually rely only on natural substitutes subsequently.

While washing your hair, make sure you condition the hair well before you finish off. Use a heavier conditioner on the hair, or even try a leave in conditioner for best results.
