The bundles of red and blue veins that sometimes appear on the skin surface, on the face and legs, are known as spider veins. Although, spider veins resemble varicose veins, but they are smaller than varicose veins and are not painful.
Spider veins can be cured through cosmetic surgery and herbal treatments. However, if we are cautious about our lifestyle changes, we can easily prevent development of spider veins.
Causes of Spider Vein
Pregnancy, prolonged standing and sitting and hereditary factors are primarily responsible for occurrence of spider veins. During pregnancy, changes in the hormone level might cause poor blood circulation in the body, developing spider veins. The pressure exerted on the walls of the veins, while standing or sitting for a long time might be responsible for the appearance of spider veins.
If close relatives in your family suffer from spider veins, risk of development of spider vein increases. Obesity, high-heeled shoes, tight clothing, intake of birth control pills, prolonged exposure to sunlight, medicinal side effects and constipation might be responsible for development of spider veins.
Spider Vein Prevention
Spider vein is largely a lifestyle disease. Therefore, you can prevent spider vein through adjustment in your lifestyle. Heat and sun escalates development of spider vein. To prevent spider veins, avoid excess exposure to strong sunlight. You should not immerse your legs in hot water bath for a long time. To ease blood circulation, avoid wearing tight fitted clothes. Your tight jeans might encourage development of spider veins. Similarly, tight fitted shoes and stilettos might increase the risk of development of spider veins. Do not stand or sit for a long time.
Sometimes the nature of your job is such that you have to stand or sit for a prolonged period. To avoid spider veins try taking a brisk walk after few hours. While sitting or standing always move your feet up and down after every ten or fifteen minutes. Also, remember to maintain normal body weight by exercising and eating healthy food.
