The Banana Bananza

December 3, 2008

Bananas are a fruit that can be found very easily no matter where you are. There exist a variety of bananas that differ in size, colour and taste. They are grown differently in different regions to produce variants that can leave on baffled. What remains common, though, is the distinct nutritional advantage and loaded properties of the banana.

Bananas can be eaten plain. They make a healthy snack, and a very good food between meals for children. They can be mashed and made into milkshakes, eaten with ice creams and other desserts, and also make important ingredients in many sweets. No matter how you use them, it is important for everyone to have regular intake of bananas.

Bananas are full of calcium, potassium and starch. While the starch makes it a healthy food filled with calories, the calcium makes a great food for the strengthening of the teeth and bones. It has been said that the slightly poorer people can actually have a banana and derive more benefit from it than a paltry meal. Bananas are good for children since they give instant energy and also help gain weight quickly.

Bananas, and other foods like corn, eggs, salmon and spinach all have large amounts of Vitamin B6. This is a vital supplement that helps in keeping the colon healthy and thwarting risks of dieases like rectal and colon cancer. It also hels in metabolising folate, which has been found to have numerous health benefits as well.

The fruit is full of fibre and is very good for the stomach. Both in keeping it clean, as well as protecting the lining and keeping it functioning well.

Bananas are excellent for the skin. They help in keeping the skin supple, glowing and soft. Mashed bananas make a very good additive to face packs and masks.
