The Breakfast Bonanza

October 21, 2008

The importance of breakfast is far reaching. Yet, many of us, knowingly, and out of ignorance, skip it. It often is foregone due to lack of time and preparation. Breakfasts have the most important place in the diet of the day.

Having a proper breakfast sets the pace for the day. It gives suffificent energy to carry out tasks during the most productive hours. A proper breakfast can even compensate for the lack of lunch. Depeing on the lifestyle we lead, and the choices at hand, there are a variety of breakfast spreads we can choose from.

For those who have to get to work or school, a quick breakfast is preffered – one that takes little time to prepare and can be consumed easily. Cereal make for the ideal breakfast. Corn flakes, muesli and oats are highly nutritious and filling, and make for an ideal breakfast. You can also opt for eggs and toast, or for the vegetarians, simple vegetables toats are ideal. Make sure you have some form of milk, either drunk plain or mixed in the cereal while starting the day. Add a juice or any other light beverage if you can, since additional water and glucose will only make you feel better.

For more leisurely breakfasts, the choices are plenty. Rice flakes cooked and tempered, Rice flour dumpligs or pancakes, and semolina make for tasty and healthy food. Similarly you could opt for elaborate preparations of eggs, salami and cold cuts, sausages and different kinds of bread. An assortment of fruits eaten with a small breakfast is another very healthy substitute to a large breakfast.

Find your own special breakfast menu using the foods you like best. Not only will you look forward to the first meal of the day, but you will also see a difference in the way you take on tasks ahead. Stress levels will be lowered, efficiency will improve, and most importantly, you will feel great within.
