The Miracle of Milk
A lot can be said about milk, and a whole volume would prove insufficient in doing it justice. Cow’s milk has been considered a life giving factor. It makes a good substitute to bufallo milk which is laden with fat, sugar and calorific value.
Milk should be taken slowly and masticated well. Gulping milk, the most common way of consuming it, is improper. Milk can be taken fresh, heated with the skim removed, or added to tea and coffee.
Sugar added to milk can be harmful. Mollases or brown sugar is a better alternative and can be used instead.
There are many products that can be made from milk, which imbibe the properties the milk has. Curd is the best form. Curd should be consumed as soon as possible once it has set. It contains natural proteins and fats necessary for the body. It can be had by everyone, even those who are health conscious can have curd made from skimmed milk.
Sour curd is not very good for health. It should be avoided by those suffering from colds, cough, indigestion, rheumatic pain and pains in the joints. It may produce mucus which blocks the circulation of blood and food juices. This can cause sluggishness and lethargy with blood impurities in the form of scabies and itching.
Ladies love indulging in the use of cosmetics. Most often, their use blocks the pores of the skin. Curd can produce mucus which forms and cannot be expelled by the pores which are clogged by the cosmetics. Care must be taken to ensure make up is well removed.
Buttermilk is a by product of milk. It is very good for digestion. It subsides all the body humours. Its hot action subsides water and air elements, and its astringent taste subsides fire. It keeps the gastric appetite intact, and improves absorption and assimilation.
Milk is essential for the elderly and children alike as it contains large amounts of calcium. In its many forms, milk is a must for everyone.
