The Right Choice of Foods
Often, the term diet is used interchangeably with weight loss. Diet also means optimum use and choice of foods to maximise benefits to the body with least incidence of causing ill health. There are simple ways to make food choices in order to increase the benefit they provide to the body.
While selecting foods, opt for the naturally prepared variety which are made with whole grains, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Use homemade broth while cooking rather than heavy oils or dairy products. Reduce or eliminate the use of heavy red meats in the diet to optimise digestion.
Include useful fats and oils in the diet. Clarified butter is supposed to be the best variety and must be consumed in moderation daily.
Include all tastes in your food to make the meal complete. A balance is best struck when sweet, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent tastes are all infused into every meal giving the pallate full satisfaction and also allowing gastric juices to work best.
While some foods may be very usfeul while eaten alone, they have poisonous tendencies when combined with other foods. Watch for these when cooking food. Cucumber makes an excellent vegetable by itself, but should never be had with water.
Small, regular meals are more intelligent options than large servings eaten at longer intervals. They help regulate the chemicals in the body better.
Resting after lunch and walking after dinner is helpful.
Use of milk, cheese, and yogurt in daily meals is good for the health.
Chewing aniseed powder with fennel and coconut powder, or cardamom seeds with sugar after every meal encouages secretion of saliva in the mouth and also aids digestion. The refreshing taste is brings to the mouth is also good in relieving lingering odours of the food.
Simple eating habits are the best in keeping harmony of the mind and body.
