The Right Shoes

October 13, 2008

The most important thing to remember while dressing up is to make sure you feel good. The best make-up, carefully planned outfits and the right accessories just might not be enough if you cannot put it all together with your personality and attitude. An ordinary outfit and simple make-up worn with attitude can make a show-stopper. Along with the clothes, shoes play an important role in making the look complete. Shoes can either help highlight the look, or even make it more subtle and toned down. Depending on the occasion and the time of day, it is essential to choose shoes well.

For women, shoes need to be chosen more carefully. Since there are many more choices using different textures, fabrics, finishes and colours, the variety is almost blinding. It is most important to keep in mind the season and climatic conditions while choosing shoes. Open shoes during the winters are criminal, and using heavy shoes for the summer is suicidal, no matter how beautiful the footwear may be.

The use of flat footwear or heels has always been a dilemma most women face. It might be useful for working women and those who walk long distances to use flatter shoes or shoes that have smaller heels. Additionally, it is more appropriate to use more subtle, conservative footwear to work. You can leave experimenting with your footwear for other occasions. The most accepted and commonly used is leather footwear. Stick to neutral shades of black or brown. Suede is another option that can be used with neat designs.

Pumps or closed shoes are by far the most common form of footwear among women. Especially when formally to work, they are functional, and yet very stylish. They complement western wear beautifully and can be worn equally successfully with skirts and trousers. Besides looking elegant, they are also extremely comfortable, providing much needed support to the feet. They help keep the feet from being exposed to harsh weather and protect them well.

We often tend to give the least amount of attention and focus on the kind of shoes we wear. With some time spent on this aspect of grooming, not only can we enhance the beauty of the clothes we wear manifold, but also give ourselves a chance of caring for our feet better.
