The Secret To Shiny Hair

December 4, 2008

Beautiful hair and skin go hand in hand. One of these that is damaged can undo all the beauty of the other. Care for the hair is as important as the many skin routines that we go through. Hair care is not always about using many products. Even simple regular care can go a long way in ensuring beautiful locks.

To arrest hairfall, try using a shampoo dedicated to this kind of hair. Not only will it help in stopping hair fall, but will also improve the health of the hair and make it less prone to damage. Use mild shampoos and conditioners only. Harsh conditioners can cause hair to fall, especially if they are not rinsed out of the hair completely. Avoid leave-in conditioners as well. Comb the hair creafully. Never comb the hair when it is still wet. Use a wide toothed comb to remove tangles, and ensure the ends of the teeth are blunt.

Coconut juice makes an excellent conditioner for the hair. It cools the scalp, and nourished a great deal. Lemon juice is good in curing oily scalps. Rub a slice of lime in wet hair, and then shampoo it to get rid of excess oil in the hair and scalp. Never wash hair as soon as you have oiled it. The hair will not have the opportunity of absorbing the oil, and no nourishment is thereby provided.

Diet is very important in keeping the hair healthy. What you eat is what will be manifested in the hair. Avoid oily foods. Have a diet rich in proteins and calcium like milk, spinach and cottage cheese. Zinc is another very important nutrient for the hair. Deficiency in zinc can cause dryness of the hair. Make sure you find enough zinc in the food you eat, or have supplements to make sure the hair gets adequate amounts.
