Thirst Quenchers for the Skin

November 5, 2008

Beating the heat is troublesome. We all drink plenty of water and juices, sit back in the convenience of the indoors and airconditioners, and take it easy. We keep the body cool as much as we can. What about the skin?

It is common to splash the face with cold water often during the summer. That is a good practice in keeping the face refreshed. But there is a simple skin care routine that helps keep the face cool internally and from the outside.

All this regimen requires is half a cup of barley water, half a cup of coconut water, half a cup of the extract the raisins, a quarter cup each of orange juice and apple extract, and some fuller’s earth.

To start with, wash the face well with some cold water. Take some cotton and immerse it into the barley water. Apply this onto the face and wipe it clean. This helps protect the skin from prickly heat.

Take the raisin extract and apple on the face and neck areas well. The hydroxy acid in the raisins help bleach the skin naturally.

Now take the orange and apple extracts. After applying some gauze on the face, apply the fruit extract liberally and leave on four about ten to fifteen minutes. Remove the gauze and massage the face well using circular movements. This will help clear the dead cells and exfoliate the face gently.

Wash the face with cold water. Make a pack using coconut water and fuller’s earth. Apply the face pack and leave it for about half an hour. Remove the pack by washing the face well, and the skin is as good as new.

Fight scorching heat by preparing yourself and the body. It’s no longer a time to sweat, but a time to smile.
