Tips for Natural Treatment of Hypothermia

Hypothermia is referred to a body condition triggered by exposure to extreme cold water or weather without adequate protection, which results in diminishing of body temperature.
Hypothermia, if ignored, leads to the decreased functioning of organs which eventually results in death. Usually, hypothermia is caused by exposure to extreme cold conditions but there are also other ailments like hypothyroidism, bacterial meningitis and doxepin toxicity, which are known as causes of hypothermia.
The symptoms of hypothermia include unremitting shivering, reduced pulse rate, unclear speech, exhaustion and vomiting. Given below are a number of remedies that had been used since ages and backed up by several researches to be effectual remedies for hypothermia.
Herbal Tea – A tea prepared with a pinch of ginger in it is a great remedy that provides instantaneous results. Consumption of warm ginger tea stimulates the flow of blood which assists in elevating the temperature levels inside the body.
It is of utmost importance to avoid consumption of this ginger based herbal tea in its hot form as hot fluids taken in hypothermia paces up the release of heat from body through sweating. It is possible to repeat the tea after a gap of 30 minutes.
Herbal Decoction – A decoction prepared with cinnamon bark’s root and dried ginger should be consumed after gap of one hour to elevate the temperature levels of body. A boiled blend of giant potato root, licorice and peony root should be given to patient suffering from hypothermia to control the lowering temperature and prevent constriction of arteries in body.
Vitamin B – Post attack of hypothermia, it is advisable for patients to increase intake of vitamins, especially vitamin B in daily meals to pace up the recovery procedure.
Foods like potatoes, turkey meat, tuna fish, chili peppers and fresh dairy products are few good examples to obtain vitamin B. Higher intake of vitamin B leads to early recovery of damaged metabolism and augments core nervous system.
Avoid – It is recommended to avoid consumption of alcohol while suffering from hypothermia. Though, a drink of alcohol endows with a warm sense but, in fact it leaves just opposite effect on body by interfering with the body’s capability to absorb vitamins and other nutrients.
