Treat Muscle Spasm Naturally

Muscle spasm is a state of sudden contraction in involuntary muscles that is result of contradiction between brain and body. The tendency of a single muscle or several muscles are preset to respond in accordance with the instructive signals received from brain and contract, while the body is reluctant for their contraction. 

Frequent occurrence of muscle spasms originates instant and acute pain. Recurrence of spasm is very often till the time muscles restore their original position.

The duration of muscle spasm can remain from seconds to hours. Insufficient fluids intake, ignored warm up prior to exercise, intense workout in extreme temperatures and muscle tiredness are some of the root causes that are responsible for contraction of muscles. By following given below tips, it is feasible for anyone to attain tremendous relief from pain caused by contracted muscles.

Bath or shower in warm water assists in relaxation of tensed muscles and significantly reduces pain that is usually associated with muscle spasms. A hot bath followed by a small session of light stretch exercises promotes blood supply to the encircled tissues of effected muscles.

Tired muscles are more prone to undergo spasms during intense physical activities. Relaxation regime performed in gym for about 10-15 minutes in middle of workouts is advised to avert muscle spasm afterwards.

Insufficient calcium intake is primarily responsible for occurrence of muscle spasm. Inclusion of such calcium rich food items in routine diets help to prevent repeatedly muscle spasm.

Skimmed milk and low fat yoghurt are the best suppliers of low fat and higher amount of calcium. Likewise calcium, deficiency of potassium in body also leads towards occurrence of muscle spasm. Bananas, potatoes, tomato puree, bran wheat and soya flour are few examples of potassium rich foods.

Regular application of hot Compress several times a day results in enhanced blood circulation in surrounding tissues of the affected muscle portions. It is advisable to consume hot drinks along with fresh juices at least 4-5 times a day to soothe affected muscles and nerves. Regular consumption of celery seeds assists in reducing inflammation of muscles.

Almond oil massage provides instantaneous comfort to constricted muscles. Add one part of cramp bark herb to half lobelia and three parts of wintergreen oil to prepare herbal oil. This preparation is a valuable herbal remedy for muscle spasm.
