Treating Varicose Veins with Vitamins
Varicose veins are permanently dilated veins mostly seen on legs. Varicose veins may cause tired legs with swelling and muscle cramps. When ever you see varicose veins on your body you have to change your food habits and include more vitamins that may help you to get rid of the veins in the initial stage itself. The most commonly used vitamins for treating varicose veins includes vitamin A, C, E, K and B6.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A which is otherwise called retinol is ideal for strengthening blood vessels. It also helps to prevent the clots in veins. Vitamin A plays a major role in healing and cell regeneration. For the treatment of varicose vein you have to add almost 25000 IU of vitamin A daily. Food that is rich in vitamin A includes carrots, broccoli, sweet potatoes, fish liver, egg and most of the dairy products.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is essential for making the two most important connective tissues and they are elastin and collagen. These connective tissues in turn play a major role in repairing and maintaining the veins and thus make them flexible and strong. Vitamin C thus strengthens capillary walls and also aids in improving the circulation of the blood. Foods that are rich in vitamin C are citrus fruits, tomatoes, guava etc. A daily intake of 1000 mg of vitamin C is recommended for treating varicose vein.
Vitamin K
Vitamin K has many benefits, it is helpful to prevent the hemorrhage and internal bleeding. It will also help you to maintain the circulatory systems healthy. Vitamin K is rich in green leafy vegetables, oats, yogurt etc.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E protects you from the dangerous blood clots. It keeps the clotting components of blood and platelets from binding together and from adhering to the walls of the blood vessels. Thus it helps you to ameliorate the blood circulation and also strengthens the capillary walls. In order to get rid of the varicose vein you have to take 800 IU of vitamin E daily. Vitamin E is seen in fish, sea foods, almonds, peanuts, kiwi, raw spinach, mango etc.
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 can correct the damaged veins as it aids in cellular growth. It also found to be fortifying the immune system. Vitamin B6 is seen in butter, peanut, bananas, chick peas, fish, meat etc.
In addition to taking these vitamins you have to drink a lot of water and also reduce your salt consumption. Fiber rich foods also help you to get relief from the problems of varicose vein.
