Treatments for Mosquito Bite

Mosquitoes require a blood meal for completing their life cycle and to lay eggs. Female mosquitoes feed our blood while the male mosquitoes will feed on the plant juice. While feeding the mosquitoes will pierce our skin and will inject their saliva in our blood.

This makes our blood not to clot till the mosquito finishes her feed. The chemicals present in the saliva of mosquito cause allergies to us. Many of the people develops swelling, red colored spots and itching quickly after the mosquito bite and many other will develop symptoms a little later.

Home Remedies for Mosquito Bite

1. Lemons

You can use freshly cut lemons for rubbing the affected skin and there by minimizing the chances for infection. Rub the pulpy soft tissues of lemon against your irritated skin and get relief.

2. Lavender Oil

Mix a teaspoon of lavender oil with a teaspoon of vegetable oil and apply the mixture on the mosquito bitten area. This will help you to reduce the itching and swelling.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar if applied directly on the mosquito bites will give you immediate results.

4. Salt

Make a paste with salt and apply it on the spot of mosquito bite. It will give you relief from swelling and itching.

5. Baking Soda and Witch Hazel

Make a paste with baking soda and witch hazel and spread the paste over the spots and allow it to be there for 15 minutes.

6. Tooth Paste

You can use even your tooth paste for this purpose. If it a pepper mint based tooth paste then it is ideal. It will help you to get rid of the itching.

7. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is found to be beneficial for treating mosquito bites. You can use aloe vera gel available in the market and also the juicy taken from the plant leaf and apply it on the affected area. This will benefit you to heal the wound and also to eliminate the itching.

8. Ice

When ever you get mosquito bite then apply some ice over the area and this will numb the area and will reduce the swelling and the itching.

In order to avoid the infections spread by mosquitoes you have to wash the area with water and soap.
