Tuberculosis is Curable


A disease, on which we can only inscribe murky indications, is undoubtedly, tuberculosis. This ailment has been known to human race, since ancient times. Today, more than 20 million people suffer from this vigorous disease.
With the spread of HIV AIDS, reports of tuberculosis have started increasing.

Tuberculosis have a propensity to get reactivated in vulnerable immune system of  HIV AIDs patients, and it is an illness that can multiply from a HIV positive person to HIV negative population. Reports suggest that, in the contemporary world more than 20% of HIV AIDS patients are resistant to many first line anti-TB drugs.

How it spreads:

It is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This microbe spreads through the air when the diseased coughs. The chances of infection, depends upon the proximity, and duration of exposure to the infected person.

In most cases, our lungs resolve by itself the infection; however, there are chances of the Bacteria remaining dormant in the body. In more than 15% of the patients, this bacteria seems to have been reactivated. Also depressed immunity, owing to aging, diabetes, smoking, alcoholic drinking may serve as reasons for tuberculosis.

Symptoms:

Generally observed items include, persistent coughing, low grade fever, and general fatigue. You may experience night sweats, loose motion, enlargement of your glands, and back ache. Few may pass blood along with the urine. But, in many cases none of these symptoms were observed.

Cure:

It is wholly curable, if treated satisfactorily and appropriately. The disease is very slow in motion. It takes ample time to set in a body. The treatment for tuberculosis is prescribed for a period of six to eight months. It may take longer, depending upon the intensity of the infection. The treatment improves the efficacy and prevents further development of resistance to the drugs in the bacilli. Anti tuberculosis drugs are taken in a single dose.
