Tuberculosis Symptoms
Tuberculosis is an infectious lung disease caused by bacteria called mycobacterium tuberculosis. It may also affect the bones, central nervous system, circulatory system, gastrointestinal system, skin and glands with in the human body. The diseases causing organisms enters the body by means of air when the infected person cough, sneeze etc. The people who closely interact with the infected person may also inhale the bacteria and gets infected. Once entered in to the body these organisms gets multiplied quickly and gets accumulated to form small spots and this leads to the formation of tubercle.
Causes of Tuberculosis
The major cause for getting tuberculosis is the direct contact with the infected person. This leads to the inhalation of the air that contains the bacteria that cause tuberculosis. If you have weak immune system then your chances of getting tuberculosis is more. Excessive intake of alcohol, smoking, unhealthy living style etc may also increase your risks for getting this disease. Other factors that contribute to the development of tuberculosis includes diabetes, loss of sleep, exposure to cold condition, malnutrition etc. Kids are more susceptible to tuberculosis as their delicate windpipes can be easily attacked.
Symptoms of Tuberculosis
In certain cases our body’s immune system fight these bacteria and prevent them from spreading. The immune system prevents the spreading by forming scar tissues around these bacteria and thus isolate them from the rest of the tissues. Then the infection becomes inactive and the infected person does not show any symptoms nor did they spread the disease. Due to calcification ,these scar tissues may get hardened and appear as stones which are otherwise called granuloma. In certain other times the immune system becomes very weak and the bacteria breaks out through the scar tissues and cause the disease.
The person who is suffering from tuberculosis may have constant cough which in turn leads to chest pain. Sometimes the patient may cough up sputum and there may be blood in the sputum. The cough may last for more than three weeks. There may be difficulty in breathing and body pain. In evening there may be a rise in body temperature. The patient may have weakness, fatigue, loss of strength, chills, weight loss, lack of appetite etc. There may be night sweats, soreness in larynx too.
Tuberculosis is now a treatable disease and hence you can consult your doctor who may help you to cure the disease.
