October 21, 2008

We are all faced with stomach trouble at some point in time. It is an often occuring ailment, either brought about by incorrect eating, overeating, or even eating too little. What is important to cure stomach trouble is to recognise the root cause, and treating it becomes much easier.

There are many home remedies for stomach aches. An upset stomach mainly requires that subsequent meals be light and easy to digest, since the stomach takes a while to recover completely. A sluggish stomach requires easily digestible food in small quantities to help bring it bak to normal functioning.

Drink a glass of buttermilk with fenugreek seeds added to it. This aids digestion and also helps bring relief to the stomach.

Boil ginger in water and add some sugar to it. Add a dash of lime before drinking. This can be had every hour in small quantities to help soothe the stomach.

Dry ginger powder is another effective ingredient. It can be taken with jaggery and brings instant relief.

Boil some mint, or alternatively take some dry mint powder and have it every few minutes. You can also take some thymol seeds and have it with rock salt to help relieve a stomach condition.

Soak some fenugreek seeds and chew them reguarly. This helps settle the stomach.

Take some cumin seeds, pepper corns and asafoetida. Roast these dry and make a powder of it with some rock salt added for taste. This powder can be eaten with well cooked, pasty rice.

The most important remedy is plenty of water. Water calms the stomach and helps it settle better. Drink small quantities frequently to keep the body hydrated.

Stomach aches can be very unsettling if they persist. Cure them quickly with some easy, effective remedies. The doctor is not the first thing you need when you have a pain the next time. Your own methods of alternate medicine should suffise.
