Uncommon Cures Using Common Products

October 24, 2008

We normally find regular uses for products we use. The main purpose they are meant to serve is why we buy goods. However, simple household products can find many alternative uses for our body. Here’s how.

TOOTHPASTE

This is not only meant to shine the teeth and give fresh breath. The anti-bacterial agents in toothpaste have the tendency to kill bacteria present even on the face. The next time you are faced with a nasty pimple and you have the all-important event, use a blob of toothpaste on it to cure it easily. However, this should not be used uniformly on all skin. Those with sensitive skin, or with skin irritation should be careful while administering themselves this remedy.

BEER

Your popular beverage just got better. It’s not just a cool drink for the warmer days, or the excuse to get together with your friends. It also works as tonic for the hair. The malt in beer helps give hair the benefit of protein, which protects and nourishes damaged hair. It also adds additional shine. The vitamins help condition the hair, and the sugars give it shine. Beer should be worked through the hair once it has been washed with shampoo and then rinsed out of the hair for the best results.

KETCHUP

Not only for your sandwiches and fries. Try using ketchup on the hair. Those who swim regularly often find their highlights losing colour. Chemicals in the pool cause oxidation with highlights in the hair, and they tend to discolour, turning into a shade of green over time. Ketchup has the tendency to correct this problem. Massage ketchup into the hair and leave in for about 20 minutes, then wash it out properly.

SODA BI-CARBONATE

This is not an ingredient that only helps cakes rise. It also gives a super lift to the smile. Teeth brushed with soda are found whiter, with a renewed shine, and improved breath.

MAYONNAISE

Mayonnaise is made using a range of natural products like eggs, mustard and lemon. Mayonnaise, hence works as a great product for the skin. The ingredients help soften the skin, and also keep it cleaner. Lemon in the mayonnaise helps tighten the pores.

Now derive many benefits from simple products in your home. Let household products double up as great remedies.
