Urinary tract includes kidney, ureters, urethra and bladder. Whenever bacteria enter in to this system then it may leads to urinary tract infection. In many of the cases bacteria enters the urinary tract through urethra and multiplies there to produce symptoms.
Urinary tract infection is a very painful and distressing disease. Urinary tract infection may affect people of any age but it is more common among women. The affected person may have frequent urge to urinate and there may be a burning sensation while urinating.
Sometimes there may be traces of blood along with urine. If the infection spreads to kidney then you may have fever, nausea, vomiting etc. You can get some relief from urinary infection through your diet.
Remedies for Urinary Tract Infection
Take fruits that are rich in vitamin C. This is because vitamin C helps you to make an acid environment with in the urinary tract and thus help you to ward off the bacteria from the urinary tract.
Berry Juice
Include berry juice in your daily diet and take at least 0.2 liters of berry juice per day. The flavanols that are present in berry juice helps you to kill the microorganisms present in your urinary tract.
Fermented Milk Products
Fermented milk products contain enough favorable bacteria like lactobacilli. These bacteria can replace the disease causing bacteria in the urinary tract and can thus wipe out the disease.
Food to be Avoided at the Time of Urinary Tract Infection
You need to avoid foods that contain concentrated sweets like molasses, jellies, jams, candies, table sugar, brown sugar, honey, cane sugar, turbinado sugar etc. Also avoid cakes, cookies, pastries, frozen yogurt, gelatin, pies, fruit drinks, carbonated pop, smoothies, sweetened coffee, chocolate drinks etc.
Fruits like grape, plum, raisin, date, fig, melons, apricot, honey dew etc that are rich in sugars , alcoholic products, red meat etc are also not good at the time of urinary tract infection. All these foods are irritants that may aggravate your problem.
Include as much as smoothies in your diet and care should be taken to avoid any artificial sweeteners. You can mix low fat yogurt while blending the smoothie.
