Uses of Chamomile

For centuries chamomile tea and chamomile oil are being used to cure several ailments. There are two different species of this member of the daisy family.
German chamomile is the more popular chamomile species, which is available nearly all over the world. The Roman chamomile, which is as effective as German chamomile, is largely available in Britain.
Chamomile is used for curing and preventing several diseases. Longer you consume the herb more effective will be its anti-microbial, anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties. There are hardly any noticeable side effects of chamomile, and therefore in moderate amount it is completely safe for human consumption.
Chamomile for skin
Chamomile essential oil is rich in flavonoids. Flavonoids are powerful antioxidants, which prevent damages caused by the free radicals. Chamomile oil is recommended for healing skin irritation, psoriasis, eczema, diaper rashes and allergies. Chicken pox scars can also be rapidly cured with chamomile oil or tea.
However, for treating sun burns, cold chamomile tea, instead of chamomile oil, is considered a safer option. Applying cool chamomile tea on your face could help to fade blemishes. Taking chamomile steam on your face can also reduce skin discoloration.
Chamomile is also effective in reducing dark circles under your eyes. To reduce dark circles, soak cotton is cold chamomile tea and place it on your dark circles for about ten to fifteen minutes everyday.
Good for the stomach
Chamomile tea is recommended for people suffering from ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel syndrome. Chamomile tea helps to reduce inflammations of the intestinal linings, which are responsible for these diseases. This herb is also effective in preventing gas formation and bloating. Chamomile can also cure nausea and vomiting. Besides, providing relief from irritable bowel syndrome, chamomile is also recommended for curing stomach flu and gastroenteritis.
You can also take chamomile tea to cure stomach cramps. The anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties of this herb can treat any form of stomach and intestinal cramps. As a muscles relaxant, chamomile tea can also be consumed to cure menstrual cramps.
Cures migraine headache
Chamomile not only reduces migraine headaches, but it can also prevent migraine triggers. As soon as you notice the early symptoms of migraine, consume chamomile tea immediately to reduce development of severe symptoms of migraine.
