Causes of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding

Hormonal imbalance is the main reason for dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Too much of estrogen and little progesterone leads to abnormal bleeding through vagina. Excessive estrogen cause the endometrial lining of the uterus to grow and it becomes thick.

At the time of periods when your body disposes this lining there will be heavy bleeding. This hormonal imbalance also confuses your body about the time of shedding this lining and this leads to irregular bleeding. This hormonal imbalance is more common in teenagers and in women nearing their menopause.

Fibroids and polyps in the uterus can also cause abnormal bleeding. Even thyroid problems can leads to dysfunctional bleeding. Women in forty’s and fifty’s must check their dysfunctional bleeding for uterine cancer.
