One of the definitions of depression suggests that it is a state of mind where thoughts, body and the brain work in tandem towards a negative approach. It is a general state of mind that leads to unhappiness. There are many reasons attributed to depression.
This can be caused due to monotony, due to excessive work or emotional stress and also, at times, as a result of side effects of medicines. There are many home remedies to cure depression. They seem to be an unlikely cure but they have been tried and tested.
One of the first of these requires a depressed person to soak his/her feet in a tub with hot water with rosemary leaves. Chlorine and soap must also be added to it and after having soaked the feet for 20 minutes; the person should wash his/her feet. This is said to have a soothing effect and helps the mind to relax.
The second cure calls for a cup of rice milk or soy milk to be cooked with 3 or 4 table spoons of oatmeal and add nuts, almond, dried fruits and maple syrup or honey to it and have it once a day. All these nutrient components are effective in reducing the stress levels and cure depression.
A third cure calls for boiling a cup of water and adding seeds of two green cardamoms and sugar and it should be had when warm. There is a cure that requires mixing a quarter tea spoon of basil and half a teaspoon of sage in every cup. This mixture had twice daily helps in the treatment of depression. You can dry the roots of asparagus and make a powder of it. One should consume a gram or two of this powder everyday to help cure depression.
Diet is an essential component for the cure of depression. A depressed person should have a diet rich in essential nutrients and minerals. It should constitute of nuts and cheese. One must also have a lot of pumpkin seeds, carrot juice, plums and ruta leaves mixed with cumin. Apple cider vinegar in a glass of water also helps.
