How to Reduce Toothache

Toothache can be one of the most distracting pains that you might have ever known of. This is considered to be one of the most painful of all aches. If you are suffering from toothache in the night and your dentist is not reachable, then there are ways that you can reduce it.


But first, we will see the causes of toothache. It can be caused due to a cavity in the tooth or you could have some food stuck in the teeth. You might have also have toothache because of a sinus infection. These are some of the most common causes of toothaches but the information on your specific toothache case will best be given by your dentist.

If you are not able to reach your dentist straight away, then try rinsing your mouth with lukewarm water. If there is any food particle that is stuck between the teeth, the rapid and vigorous rinsing will shake the particle off from where it is stuck.

This is one of the most common causes of tooth ache and you can save the dentist’s fees by trying this out first. You can also try flossing; however be soft on your teeth because there are sensitive gum close by too.


Another remedy is used to treat any wounds in the gum. Take a spoonful of salt and mix it in eight ounces of warm water. Gargle and swirl the water around inside the mouth. Then spit it out. Do it for a few minutes till there is no more of this solution left and you are likely to feel less pain.

A third remedy calls for taking a swig of whiskey and then let the tooth be soaked in it for a while. Do not gulp the whiskey down but let it stay inside your mouth for two minutes. Then spit it out. The toothache would have significantly reduced.

There is an alternative massage therapy as well which is called the Cold Massage therapy. This therapy requires you to take an ice cube and have it massaged into the V shaped section between the forefinger and the thumb for five minutes to reduce toothache.
