You should try to push the air deep inside your stomach and then, exhale the same within a count of five. You should repeat the process by increasing and decreasing the counting for about five more times and then, slowly return back to stable breathing.
Interrupted breathing is also effective for stopping hiccups. First of all, you will have to take a deep breath in order to fill your lungs and stomach with an adequate amount of air. Now, you should slowly release the air. You will exhale for one second and then, hold your breath for next one second. You should repeat the process until you expel out all the air. After this, practice normal breathing for three times and then, continue the same process if required.
Eight Figure Breathing
Hiccups are also related to your mind, i.e. your thinking. Eight-figure breathing is one such technique, which can give best results. You should first close your eyes and visualize the figure eight in your imagination. As you see the picture, you should start inhaling slowly. You should think that the air is flowing in and out in the form of figure eight. You should feel that the air is entering into lungs and then, into your stomach. It will then, curl back upwards and thus, form the figure eight.
Hot breathing is another type of breathing technique suitable for stopping hiccups. In this process, you will have to inhale quickly and fill your lungs with an ample amount of air. Now, you should exhale slowly while counting ten. You should press your belly hard while breathing out. You should also compress your throat in order to produce a whooshing sound while exhaling. You should repeat this process for another five times or till your hiccups stop.
Breathing in a Paper Bag
Breathing in a paper bag is another interesting technique, which has proved to be beneficial. All you need to do is inhale and exhale deeply while putting your mouth as well as your nose inside a paper. You can repeat the breathing for a couple of times in the similar manner and your hiccups will disappear.
