Mouth herpes is a kind of infection that occurs on the lips and mouth by herpes simplex virus. This virus is known to cause extremely painful sores on gums, lips, roof of mouth, tongue, inside cheeks, as well as on the neck and face.
Sometimes, it leads to symptoms such as muscle aches and fever as well. A large number of people recognize this disease as cold sores. A similar condition, canker sores, is often confused with mouth herpes; but the truth is that it is not caused by HSV and occurs only inside the mouth, not on the skin.
